GLWB Recognizes the Important Role Our Employer Partners Play in the Lives of Local Young People

Over 40 employers were recognized at the GLWB Employer Appreciation Breakfast held at Lenzi’s in Dracut, MA on September 13th.  Each year employers and GLWB staff gather  to recognize the importance of a first a job for young people and how it has a profound effect on each youth.  All employers were commended for their willingness to hire young people from the Greater Lowell Area.  This year 8 employers received awards for excellence in serving youth: Lowell General Hospital, Home Depot, Align Credit Union, Heritage Farm Ice Cream, Tewksbury Country Club, Wamesit Lanes, Lowell National Historical Parks, and TJ Maxx. The Employer of the Year, Cracker Barrel, received the highest honors. Cadence was recognized for their excellent work with STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math) and young people. Guest speakers included William Samara, Mayor of Lowell and Caitlyn Wright, a past Career Center Youth Jobs Program participant who spoke about her experience working with our youth programming and how her first job led her to where she is today.
